My story: At the DDS last Nov, the hygienist asked me when-was-the-last-time I visited a dentist? (It had been 1 year – I floss religiously & have lots of old recession from brushing too hard.) It took 2 X 1-hour sessions to clean them via root planing (under Novocain) – it was something like $1200, Thank God for insurance. Dr S. says “with kids, it’s cavities – with us, it’s periodontal disease.” The hygienist did it with a prophy jet, which uses air to push the gums out of the way, so the calculus can be scraped off. (Editor’s note: The professional cleaning of teeth is sometimes referred to as prophylaxis (or prophy for short). It’s a Greek word which means “to prevent beforehand” – in this case, it helps prevent gum disease.) Without Novocain, it feels like it’s cutting your gums – but amazingly, there’s no bleeding at all and they feel great afterward. I think the gums “un-receded” some after the treatment. I went back a month later – and already had more buildup everywhere. Shelly spent another 40 minutes cleaning them. She told me to get a SONICARE FLEXCARE and said to come back in 4 months. Today – I went back. Unfortunately, it was a different hygienist who thought I was just a routine cleaning. She remarked, “You’re doing a good job – your teeth are very clean.” Then a few minutes later, “I can hardly find anything to clean – your teeth are impeccable – you have such pretty teeth.” Nobody has EVER said anything close to that, to me – and she’s only 33 or so, not seeing-impaired. Then Dr S. looked at them and said, “they look great. See you in 6 months.” (Dr S. is the best dentist (and mentor to his hygienists), with the highest standards – if he said it, I believe it!) The Sonicare Flexcare is like having your own dental tool! It’s so gentle to your gums and gets every crack & crevice, and does just as good a job on the back teeth as the front. It takes at least 10 minutes to do a thorough job and my teeth/gums feel wonderful after. I got mine (also for Kelly & Brian) for about $100-110 each – it’s the Phillips Sonicare Flexcare RS940 with UV Sanitizer.

This section should be uncluttered and clean, with accents of pink/white/red, and pairs of items displayed. No photographs of yourself on your own, or with past loves, no sad/lonely/desolate pictures or images. Lovely scented candles (in pairs of course) with a seductive scent or one that makes you feel romantic. Books about love and romance and generally anything represents what you’d like in your life.

In the magazine this week, maple syrup was a key ingredient in the “In Season” recipe. Don Lee of PDT may use maple syrup to make his old-fashioned, but we couldn’t get past the bacon-infused bourbon that is the base of the drink. Bacon? Bourbon? We’re in. And since we took our camera to PDT yesterday to watch Lee prepare the drink himself, we can all practice at home. Frequently. Video by Jonah Green

Mother wants to swim in the pool, and I am sure wants to meet older folks as she has no social life. She believes she is influencing me to move in a 55 & community. She keeps saying she doesn’t want to influence me, and when I told her that wasn’t quite true, she said she was doing her best to do just that.
I am 55, and have my home on the market. The community and move might be a good change, but I don’t know. It is also 17 hours away from my location now.
I lost my spouse , and Mother is divorced living in a very small place.
The 17 hours is that I live in the north and she lives in the south where I would be moving to if I went. My house is for sale.
There is nothing wrong with your mother enhancing her social life. Obviously she is still "alive and kicking" Nothing wrong with you being social as well. What does it being 17 hours from where you are now have to do with anything?
